About Jocelyn Carter

I discovered my passion for public health and nutrition while serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer, where I saw firsthand the power of nutrition in preventing and managing chronic disease. Becoming a mother deepened my understanding of the challenges of raising a healthy family, shaping my mission to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and support needed to foster lifelong healthy habits. I am a second-year doctoral student at Northern Arizona University with a background in public health and nutrition. As a Registered Dietitian with an MPH in Public Health Nutrition, my research focuses on maternal and child nutrition, with a special emphasis on how social connections influence health behaviors and outcomes. In addition to research, I have a deep passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of dietitians and public health professionals. Through my work in higher education, I strive to make complex health concepts accessible, engaging, and applicable, equipping students with the skills and confidence to create meaningful change in their communities.
