Jocelyn Davis is a dynamic former entrepreneur based in Evanston, Illinois, with roots in Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she developed her passion for movement and health. In 2009, Jocelyn founded Akemi Fitness Method, a grassroots fitness studio in downtown Evanston. Through her vision and dedication, the studio transformed into a comprehensive Health and Wellness Center serving women, men, and youth. Over its eight years of operation, Akemi Fitness Method became a pillar of the Evanston and North Shore communities, offering a range of programs designed to promote physical fitness, wellness, and community engagement. Jocelyn's commitment to promoting health and fitness extended beyond her studio. She was privileged to teach fitness classes to The Oprah Show and Harpo Studios staff for an impressive five seasons, where her innovative approach gained recognition. Additionally, she has been featured in prominent media outlets, including Time Out Chicago and Yoga Journal, sharing her expertise and passion with a broader audience. Her appearances on Chicago’s NBC5 and WGN during fitness segments showcased her ability to engage and inspire viewers toward healthier lifestyles. Jocelyn has over 15 years of senior management experience, including retail management at Target, where she developed her operational leadership and team development skills. Currently, as an HR Generalist for Youth & Opportunity United, she works to create supportive environments for employees and the youth they serve. Her human resources experience includes leadership roles in various community organizations, such as DEI Chair and Co-Vice President of the PTA. As the Health & Wellness Lead at Y.O.U, she promotes employee wellness initiatives to enhance engagement and foster healthier mindsets within the organization. Jocelyn's strong capacity for achievement shines through in every role she takes, enabling her to exceed expectations consistently. She actively seeks opportunities to implement equity in practice, valuing diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
