About Jocelyn Sears

Jocelyn is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at Harvard University, where she has also served as a teaching fellow. Her dissertation,"The Future as Warning: Narrative Voice and Literary Form in Modern Dystopian Novels," identifies and analyzes the kinds of narrators and narrative forms that Anglophone dystopian novels have employed between 1920 and the present, exploring the ideological implications and readerly effects of writers’ formal choices. Her research interests include narratology, gender and sexuality, and book history and textual studies. She focuses primarily on American, Canadian, and British fiction. She also works as a researcher at iHeartMedia, providing background research for podcasts including Main Accounts, Under the Influence, Newton's Law, and others. As a poet, Jocelyn has published in a range of print and web journals, and she is particularly interested in poetic representations of embodiment.
