About Jochen Wendebaum

Technology, leadership, and human connection are the three driving forces in my life. With a foundation in systems engineering and a broad technical background in mobile machinery, process technology, and embedded electronics, I’ve grown into leadership and team-building roles—always with a deep curiosity for how things work and how people collaborate. I currently lead a team of 12 brilliant System Architects at Hitachi Energy, where we shape the architectural design of the MACH platform’s subsystems. This role brings me back into the heart of technology, focusing on inter-system communication through OPC UA and IEC 61850. I’m passionate about open systems, open standards, and open source—especially their application in data communication, control system architecture, user interaction design, IT security, and Industrial IoT. I believe these principles are key to building resilient, future-ready systems. Outside of my main role, I run my own company, Tinkerpod, offering web hosting and design services based on Drupal. It’s a space where I explore new technologies and stay hands-on with the web. Originally from Germany, I moved to Sweden in 2007 with my family and have since embraced the culture, language, and professional opportunities here. I thrive in environments where innovation meets collaboration—and where people are as important as the technology they build.
