About Jodi Barnard

With a background in neuroscience research, and experience in both the healthcare and IoT industry, I have experienced neurodegeneration through nursing, researching and project managing collaborative projects across academia and industry partners. I hold a First Class Medical Neuroscience BSc (Hons) and a Neuroscience Masters of Research (Distinction), and I was awarded the prize for "The best overall performance in a Neuroscience masters course"(2018). My PhD is in Molecular Neuroscience. My experience outside of academia, working as Research & Partnerships Lead for a wearable technology SME, has given me exceptional skills in grant and proposal writing and researching the ever-growing body of IoT devices emerging in the health and wellbeing sectors. I completed my Medical Research Council DTP funded PhD at King’s College London, working on neuroinflammation, neuron-glia interaction and autophagy in neurodegenerative disease. Alongside my full time lab position, I worked as a scientific content writer, podcaster and science communicator and influencer. I am now a Sr Content Writer in a digital marketing company for the life sciences, working in SEO and content strategy.
