Background
About Jodi Lewchuk
I'm an editor passionate about books that shift the narrative and lead to social change. I currently acquire trade titles for AEVO UTP and scholarly work in environmental studies, urban studies, geography, anthropology, and sociology. My mission is to support books and authors that find new ways to engage readers and highlight social issues. My experience spans trade, school, higher education, and scholarly publishing and my acquisitions skills are supported by a deep understanding of the publishing process through previous experience with production, copy, substantive, and developmental editing, as well as extensive collaboration with sales and marketing teams. In addition to acquiring writing, I also produce it. I'm a former finalist in the Best Piece of Culinary Writing category for Saveur magazine and write regularly on my website about breaking down cultural norms by living and thriving as a solo woman in midlife. I advocate for the intersection of environmental ethics, compassion, and empowerment by being a plant-powered kettlebell strength athlete and runner (2015 Boston Marathon finisher). I seek collaborative opportunities that draw on my depth and breadth of experience and allow me to lead, exercise creativity, and create space for meaningful social change. Trade Acquisitions Highlights-"There May Not Be a Policing Solution": Building Safe, Just, Inclusive Societies, by Peter Sloly (AEVO UTP, forthcoming 2025)- SOLVED: How the World's Great Cities Are Fixing the Climate Crisis, by David Miller, Managing Director, International Diplomacy at C40 Cities, and former mayor of Toronto (AEVO UTP, 2024)- Sticky, Sexy, Sad: Swipe Culture and the Dark Side of Dating Apps, by Treena Orchard (AEVO UTP, forthcoming 2024)- Skating on Thin Ice: Professional Hockey, Rape Culture, and Violence Against Women, by Walter DeKeseredy, Stu Cowan, and Martin Schwartz (AEVO UTP, 2023)- The Gatherings: Reimagining Indigenous-Settler Relations, by Shirley N.
