About Jodi Millen

I am passionate about helping adult professionals overcome language barriers and communicate effectively in linguistically diverse workplaces—workplaces where one language may be spoken, but not everyone is speaking the same language. While technically I teach adults how to speak English, what I really do is help them communicate. I support professionals in understanding and being understood, breaking through communication barriers, and focusing on clarity and intention—not perfection. I often tell my clients that not all grammar is created equal. There’s “must-have” grammar and “nice-to-have” grammar. And in the workplace, the “must-have” grammar is rarely what people think it is. HR is never called in over a misplaced verb tense—but it often is called in when phrasing is interpreted as rude, demanding, or aggressive. Both situations involve grammar. Only one affects relationships, trust, and workplace culture. In linguistically diverse teams, where people bring different backgrounds, accents, fluency levels, and communication norms, we all have to check our assumptions, listen actively, and make space for imperfection and growth. My goal is to help professionals navigate those complexities—to speak with clarity, listen with empathy, and communicate in ways that build connection, not confusion. Because when we remove language barriers, we unlock potential, productivity, and inclusion.
