About Jodie Lyons

Flying has always been part of my story; you could say it's in my blood. My father is a retired NWA pilot, and my brother is a pilot for Southwest. I took my first flight in 1988 and earned my private pilot’s license in 1990, but my path to the flight deck hasn’t been a straight line. Along the way, I took a detour and built a career in nursing and higher education, fields that have taught me how to lead with empathy, think clearly under pressure, and stay composed when it matters most.Those same lessons now guide me as a professional pilot with Southern Airways Express. Whether caring for patients, guiding students, or flying passengers, I’ve learned that success depends on preparation, communication, and discipline.What ties it all together is my love for learning and helping others grow. I’ve mentored new nurses, students, and pilots, and I believe that leadership is about giving others the confidence to take their own next step.My goal is simple: to keep learning, flying, and helping others find their own direction, no matter where they are in the climb."To most people, the sky is the limit.
