About Joe Brown

I recently retired from a career with the Albuquerque Police Department. I had many roles within the department. I spent most of my time as a field patrol officer but worked as a detective in the Crimes Against Children, Force Investigations, and VICE units. Toward the end of my career I was promoted to Sergeant where I worked as a Patrol Sergeant and again in the Force Investigations unit where I retired from. While working for APD, I attended the University of New Mexico where I studied Civil Engineering. My concentration was in Structural engineering and Construction Management. My electives included reinforced concrete design, structural analysis and construction law. My capstone project involved designing a bridge for a gas pipeline that spanded across the Rio Grande River. Once I retired, my family and I sold our home and began traveling across the United States. It is a great opportunity for us to see and experience new things and visit places we would have not have had the chance to visit. My plan is to begin a new career as a Civil Engineer. I look forward to this new challenge and new perspective.
