About Joe Carroll

An IT professional with over 20 years business and technical experience across the entire software development lifecycle, I am TOGAF and SSADM qualified and have used a range of other methodologies and techniques including RUP and OOAD. I am currently a Business Architect for BT GS, leading a number of programmes within the sector. I am also the Professional Standards Beacon for Business Analysis and Design, and the BTGS Subject Matter Expert for Requirements Management. As a Business Architect I have been responsible for shaping business propositions, investigating business problems at an enterprise level, and proposing business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes. I have been responsible for defining the structure of the business enterprise in terms of its governance, structure, business process and business information to align strategic goals and objectives. I have extensive experience of Requirements Management in large complex programmes, including the analysis, specification, validation, management and traceability of requirements through the entire software development life cycle. I have often been responsible for defining the approach to requirements management and development adhering to MSP and Prince 2 principles. I have strong modelling skills, having used UML extensively over the past 9 years. I have been responsible for determining the approach to requirements management and development in a number of large and complex programmes. My broad skills and experience base means that I have a proven ability to interact with all disciplines throughout the project lifecycle. I have solid interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. I am recognised for my exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation. My verbal and written English communication skills are excellent.
