Joe has more than 20 years of experience working for and advising on strategy in the Chemicals, Bio-Chemicals, Fertilizers, Paper and Pulp, Mining and Metallurgical Industries. Joe was the Global Chemicals Sector Coordinator for the Equities Division of UBS Investment Bank focussed on industry and market analysts as well as chemical company valuation for the secondary Equities market and Primary IPO, M&A markets. Joe has particular interests in commodity analysis in petrochemicals, fertilizers and agricultural markets. While within the chemicals sector segments he has a strong interest in bio-based industrial chemistry (enzymes, bio-based chemical production, Bio-Agriculture, probiotics), Consumer Chemicals (Vitamins and nutrition ingredients and the Flavours and Fragrances Industries) precious and technology metal recycling, battery materials and the chemistry of Energy Storage. Joe has a strong Process Industries Operational experience gained prior to joining UBS as a Management Consultant with particular interests in production planning, lean manufacturing and complexity management. Joe conducted several consulting projects in Pulp and Paper, Specialty Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceutical Production, Home and Personal Care and Equipment Assembly Operations. Joe has significant experience in the use of ERP and Management information for operational excellence Joe started his career as a plant engineer in the mining and fertilizer industries and holds a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in Chemicals Engineering from the University of KwaZulu Natal and an MBA from INSEAD
