About Joe Doxey

A little about me:I am an Applied Science Technologist in Civil Engineering, employed with the City of Parksville as Manager of Infrastructure. My current job title is Manager of Infrastructure which is related to civil municipal infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, sanitary collection and treatment, and water supply and distribution. My role with Parksville has me working in a combination of roles including asset management, coordinating long range utility and transportation master plans and modeling, capital project planning, project management, supporting and coordinating general engineering services for other City departments, supporting related questions and referrals from the community and Council. Part of my role and why I love working in local government is the exposure to such a multitude of varied "problems" and working out solutions with such a wide range of science and engineering professionals. Everyday I feel like I know less and less and learn more and more.I worked doing survey work, engineering design and layout under the direction of some terrific Professional Engineers, Surveyors, and others at Jones Warner Engineering and Woolpert while living in the states, and then came back to Canada in 2008 and continued doing similar types of work with Catterall and Wright in Saskatoon. My Job experience happened to garner me knowledge of bylaws and engineering standards from jurisdictions around North America and fortunately or unfortunately my work with Catterall and Wright led me to become really familiar with the local government in Humboldt, Saskatchewan where I was tempted over to working. While i have been swayed to another municipality, I must be been enjoying the variety of challenges that working in local government provides. It has been around ~14+ years working for local government in a director or manager capacity.
