Entrepreneur with a passion for travel and connecting people. Growing up I worked in several industries including construction, sales, hospitality, aviation, tourism & recruitment. This gave me a good range of skills and experience, but also convinced me that I wasn't meant to work for someone else. Before and during university I tried my luck with a few small businesses which never went far but they did give me a taste for entrepreneurship and a yearning for the freedom that being your own boss can bring. After graduating from university in 2008 I left the UK on a backpacking adventure that lasted two years, and hugely changed my perspective on life. After several odd jobs in Oz, a failed start up attempt in Sydney, and a fun experience helping give backpackers a good time in Oz and Thailand, I went back to the UK to try and be an adult and get a "proper job". This lasted almost two years before a conversation in a London pub on a rainy night, followed by a series of random events led my business partner Mark and I to start TruTravels.We quit our “proper” jobs to launch Tru in 2012. Then came the most amazing ride ever, starting with the simple goal of giving as many people as possible the best time of their lives in paradise (and very little idea of what we were doing), we somehow managed to grow the company between 120% and 250% per year for 7 years straight and buld the most incredible team on the planet. At this point we got noticed and took an offer to join forces with G Adventures in order to take our company to the next level with their support. This was in 2018/19, and we all know what happened in 2020. Fast forward nearly five years and we bought a beach resort, survived the pandemic, launched Tru into 3 continents (we were in one before Covid), navigated a successful exit from TruTravels and started a new venture: DNA or Digital Nomad Adventures. DNA is based out of our Beach Resort in Koh Phangan Thailand and our market is entrepreneurs and digital nomads as opposed to backpackers as it was with Tru. The aims of DNA are:1) Bring more entrepreneurs / founders to the island & build a community so we can live the dream in paradise together.2)Share knowledge and experience within this community so we can help each other get closer to our goals in business and life. 3) Make the world a better place by supporting businesses and community projects focused on equality, education and environment. I have managed to create a pretty cool life for myself in paradise. Now I want to help others do the same.
