Strong Interpersonal skills, in-depth knowledge of, and experience with, electrical utility operation and maintenance and industrial systems operation and maintenance. I have broad experience in many areas of the utility industry which makes me a unique commodity within the industrial and utility domains. Summary of experience: • Over thirty years combined utility experience working in Power Quality & Electrical Effects, Asset Management, System Operations Engineering, IPP Development Engineering, Energy Marketing, Technical Sales Support and Facilities Planning. • Over six years of Industrial experience with plant electrical distribution operation & maintenance, protection, SVC’s, DCS and PLC control and applications, motor control and protection, and variable speed drives (including harmonic concerns). • Over six years management experience within Asset Management. • Ten years experience with business process design and change management. Several points in particular set me apart from most utility engineers: 1) AUC hearing witness, with experience in multiple appearances. As EMF issues manager for AltaLink I have contributed the electrical effects section to numerous project facility applications including consultation, EMF profile modelling, application writing and for larger projects, also provided AUC hearing panel witness testimony. Member of ICES TC95 Sub-Committees 1, 3 and 4. Member of EC EMF Networking team and chair of Alberta EMF Networking team. 2) My background as an industrial customer. This allows me to understand customer stakeholder concerns at a level most utility engineers cannot. I was recruited into the TransAlta Customer Planning team for that very reason. 3) Customer planning and interconnection experience. I have worked closely with industrial customers, project engineers, and customer account representatives in developing interconnection proposals, agreements and operating procedures. 4) Asset Operating and Maintenance experience. I have a deeper understanding of power system asset operating capabilities, system integration and maintenance requirements and the inter-dependencies of the various discipline subsystems.
