Joe has worked in healthcare for over 45 years with leadership positions in Health Information Management, Information Technology and Administration. He has a masters degree in health services administration and has several years of experience in HIPAA and FERPA privacy and information security consulting. Joe has been very active in AHIMA and component state associations throughout his career. He is also a member of Kansas City’s HIMSS chapter and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He has co-authored several articles as well as the first patient privacy guidebook for Kansas hospitals in 1987. He was a past member of the AHIMA Privacy and Security Practice Council that published the 2013 ROI Toolkit. For several years, Joe was an Associate Professor with the University of Kansas Honors Program teaching a course for comparing and contrasting the American healthcare system with systems in other countries.
