About Joe Heckel

Currently, I work fully remote as a HR Coordinator and IT Administrator for Aptara. I am studying for the SHRM CP Exam to further my knowledge of Human Resources so I will always be ready to help.A brief history of how I ended up in both positions at Aptara is simple; I am a very hard worker and have always had the ability for fast paced learning while retaining and growing my skills. When I first started at Aptara, I was in the film preservation department. I successfully ran a very efficient scan group that consistently hit our daily and monthly numbers of photos to be processed. Simultaneously I ran an additional project which included scanning university papers and providing QC (quality control) on a very tight deadline. Since those projects, Aptara observed my hard work, productivity, and leadership qualities. When scanning projects slowed down due to the clients funding, they asked if I would like to work in IT. While working in IT, I honed my people skills that provided comfort to users who were angry/anxious/nervous due to computer issues. I received a Google Coursera Certificate to provide validity to my IT position. During this new journey, I still helped as an advisor for the scanning department to make sure projects ran smoothly. That brings us to HR Coordinator. This was another instance of a department that was lacking internal help, therefor I stepped in when asked and helped balance out the HR Department. I have been fortunate that Aptara has put this much trust in me to help all different departments. With an IT background, I found this helps with any HRIS IT needs. I am quick with help and due diligence for all employees. I am a people person and have been on both sides of HR so I know what it takes to be successful and helpful in the HR department.
