About Joe Klein

Throughout my tenure at SMUD, I have partnered with nearly every department—from the contact center and vegetation management team to GIS, billing, R&D, and even the grid team during outage research. Additionally, I have worked vertically within the organization, collaborating on projects with our CEO and mentoring student interns. This broad exposure has enabled me to act as a trusted program management consultant: connecting departments to reduce duplicated efforts, advising colleagues on RFP development, budgeting, and strategic planning, and serving as a critical link between frontline employees and leadership. In my role as Senior Market Research Specialist, I have led cross-functional teams to design innovative research projects—such as developing a BEV adoption forecasting tool—and managed multiple projects concurrently to align with strategic goals. My experience in advanced data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and organizational change management has enabled me to deliver clear, data-backed insights, manage program scope, schedules, budgets, dependencies, and mitigate risks effectively. I am confident in my ability to develop evaluation methods that assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
