In 2020, I went to Mexico for a friend's wedding, only to get a phone call from the bar I worked at “Hey man, we got bought out and new management fired everyone. Sorry.” *click* Flying back to Chicago to get a bus home, we ended up having to quarantine in the city for 14 days. Then riots, lockdowns, military presence, cop cars on fire in the middle of the day - and a text from my dad “Hey just stay there bc grandmas with us and it'd suck if you unalived her by having the virus.” Well, dang - all I had was a suitcase packed for 5 days. I left every single thing behind. I had no money I had no car I had horrible credit I had no college education I had no routine No skills No guidance No help No plan No schedule No nothing I had to go on unemployment… After getting bored of watching alien documents, drinkin beer, and playing xbox, I looked in the mirror and figured I have 2 options: 1. Pay off my debt and get back to (literally)$0 and find another bartending job 2. Risk it and learn a high-value skill. I REFUSED to come out of the pandemic as the same person who went in. I chose #2. I reached out to someone I admired for years and they actually responded! After 10min, I gave them everything I had (left with $156 in my bank) and did every. Single. Thing. They told me to do. I grow an ad agency to a 6-fig run rate in 97 days. Then also started to use the skills I learned to help others (it was more fun). Within another 30 days, I was making more per month than I did per year bartending. We're 127 days in now. I worked with CRE brokers, product launches, biz coaches/consultants, and fencer contractors. Within 13 months, I had conversations under my belt, with every single piece of data to go along with it… I literally tracked 98% of those conversations… I started making scripts, trackers, tools, excel sheets (whaa?). I learned lead gen from more volume in 13 months than most get people get in their life. I learned sales insights from people doing a mil a month I learned ads from people spending $10k/day I learned time management from people whos mentors run $100m+ companies All I did was: Show up Do what I say I will Be honest Be trustworthy Be coachable Now, I feel the only way to continue growing as a human is to help others get what they want, using what I know.
