In 2001 I immigrated to Dublin, where I worked in retail store management. Having a keen interest in science and engineering, I attended evening classes at TUD, attained a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology and then worked as a site-based Civil Engineering Technician for two years. I continued my studies, graduated in structural engineering and then worked for two years as a Structural Design Engineer, mainly on windfarm and wastewater treatment plant projects. In 2012 I moved to post-earthquake Christchurch NZ, where I worked for around 5 years on a large variety of structural engineering projects as part of the city redevelopment. These projects included demolition methodologies, detailed seismic assessments, strengthening works design, new designs, temporary works design, earthquake damage assessments of commercial, industrial and residential structures including relevelling works. In 2016 I carried out damage assessments of buildings in Kaikoura following the M7.8 earthquake. Once Chartered in 2016, I moved to Auckland where I took up the role of Structural Team Leader. I worked on a range of projects including the new design of commercial and residential structures, detailed seismic assessments of commercial structures and the associated strengthening works design where required. I was also appointed as an engineering Expert Witness in litigated claims, where I provided earthquake damage assessments of buildings in Christchurch, and participated in court mediations and determinations over a number of years. In May 2021, I joined Vodafone NZ (now One NZ) as Design Lead of Civil & Structural Engineering. I am currently Senior Structural Engineer at FortySouth NZ.
