About Joe Murphy

I qualified as a solicitor in 2007 after a two year traineeship with Marchant Harries solicitors. Since qualifying I have worked in a variety of different areas of law but specialised in criminal, family, sports and civil litigation during my time with Marchant Harries solicitors and Blackfords LLP. In 2012 I began my career in public law working for Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council where my role included all litigation for the Local Authority with a focus on child protection and prosecution of regulatory offences. In 2016 I began work for Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council with similar specialisms but expanded my portfolio to specialise in areas of public law including judicial review and ombudsman enquiries. In addition to my primary roles in Local Government in 2014 I was confirmed as a Registered Lawyer under the FA Football Agent Regulations and in 2016 was appointed as chairman of the Independent Appeals Panel for the Football Association of Wales. I was called to the Bar in October 2017 and and began working as a third six pupil with 30 Park Place Chambers in December 2017. I became a full tenant at 30 Park Place in June 2018. My practice focuses solely on areas of child protection, public and private family representing Local Authorities, parents, grandparents and children. In 2023 I was also made a chairman of the FAW Safeguarding panel.
