About Joe Roberts

I am a graduate engineer based in Swansea, South Wales with an interest in water & natural resource management. I have recently completed a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at Swansea University, with particular proficiency and interest in Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Wastewater Management and Fluid-Structure Interaction. Over the course of my degree I have acquired a diverse skill set relevant to engineering work related to natural resource management, fluid retaining structure design, and proven ability in structural design and simulation across multiple projects. I have also been exposed to advanced topics such as computational plasticity, irrotational flow, and analysis of 2D steady-state thermal problems. Finally, I am adept at using a range of software packages including AUTOCAD, Matlab, Microsoft Office, and Finite Element analysis packages (ELFEN, ANSYS). Although I have not had any prior experience in the field, my hunger to learn and develop professionally will drive me and this is complimented by a strong work ethic. I am flexible with regards to travelling for work and seek to become engaged in all aspects of engineering work; feasibility studies, detailed design and site work. I hope to eventually become exposed to project management and I would like to become involved in a scheme to help me attain chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
