About Joe Simonson

I've grown to love digital marketing over the past 10 years. It started with programming and web sites back in the 1990's and then just trying to find ways to make sites I contributed to stand out from the crowd. First search, then social, now content marketing. The complexity grows each year, but at it's core it's all about adding value for the client and that's something I can really get behind. My most recent work at Accenture has had a strong focus on social media, data analysis, and making great content. And doing this in an industry that's a little slower to adapt, despite needing to do so: banking. Just like digital upending traditional newspapers and countless other industries, banking is on the precipice and that makes it very exciting - especially here in APAC where many markets are just coming into their own. When I'm not knee-deep in digital, I like standing in a pile of wood shavings. All of the screen time is offset with my love for Japanese woodworking. Chisels, planes, and whet stone provide a much needed reprieve and life lessons. I have lived in the Tokyo area for over a decade now and call it my home with my wife and 1 year old son. I'm a big fan of this city and especially the quiet little neighborhood that we've landed in within the last 5 years. Feel free to reach out to me any time.
