About Joe Stroud

I am Director at Aliter Capital LLP, a different type of private equity firm, aiming to support management teams drive the growth and value of their business in the support services sector. I head up our North of England office. Along with my colleagues at Aliter, we aim to deliver upper quartile returns for investors in our funds. Aliter has earned a reputation for investing in and building successful businesses. We offer decades of previous experience building support services companies. We know what works and what builds value and we know what can get in the way. It’s especially important to me and my colleagues that we offer a different way of working with management teams at our investee companies. We don’t just turn up for board meetings every month to check the numbers. We aim to work alongside and be totally aligned with management teams; to drive growth and add value, sharing risks and rewards along the way. We don’t believe in loading up balance sheets. We aim for a more equitable debt/equity ratio. From our offices in London, Manchester and Glasgow, we work with management teams to set a clear strategy. We deliver expert support and we help navigate the road ahead. Our track record confirms that, together, we can create outstanding value. We invest and focus on a handful of platforms. That way, we can really devote time to working with and supporting management. Our investments are not just assets in a portfolio. Our goal is to help build outstanding support services businesses. We look for bright, ambitious management teams and we take time to get to know them. We discuss goals and ambitions – for the business and for themselves. We explore strategy and growth options. We work together to build an understanding of what makes each other tick. Only after that do we start to work on the deal. I am pleased to report a flying start for our £134m Aliter Capital II fund. Launched in December 2022. the fund has already created four platform businesses in; • IT Networking • Healthcare Data Analytics • Technical Services • IT Recruitment and Resourcing … and we are actively seeking to make further investments/acquisitions in these and other support services areas. We are backed by a consortium of US and European institutions including pension funds, insurance companies, university endowments and charitable foundations; and our founding partners have also made a significant financial commitment to the fund.
