About Joe Watkins
After over 45 years, I retired from active law practice in September, 2021. During my legal career, I was a partner at two great Atlanta law firms, Long, Weinberg, Ansley & Wheeler (now Weinberg, Wheeler, Hudgins, Gunn & Dial) and Watkins, Lourie, Roll & Chance, PC, which I started with my former partners in 1997. As an experienced trial lawyer who represented plaintiffs and defendants in a broad spectrum of cases, I began serving as a mediator on a part time basis. I was privileged to join the panel of mediators at Henning Mediation & Arbitration Services in May, 2017, where I continue to work as a mediator and arbitrator. In October of 2017 I had a spinal cord injury as a result of fall at home. Although it has been a challenging path, and I am physically disabled, I have been able to recover a lot and still continue to work because of the love and support of family and friends and the great care and therapy I continue to receive at The Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
