About Joel Burkey

I was Chief Coordinator for Allen Park High School's driver education program. I held that position from As part of my job, I led a team of instructors and administrative staff that delivered a high-quality driver education program. As coordinator, I oversaw scheduling for classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training. I optimized resource allocation while providing patient and constructive feedback during behind-the-wheel training experience. Throughout my time in this position, our program was highly sought after by parents. More often than not, we had a significant waiting list due to the high demand for our instruction. Additionally, I coached Club Hockey from 2009-2021. During that time, I achieved USA Hockey's Level 4 Coaching Certification. My teams consistently won district championships and appeared in the state finals on six different occasions. Finally, I was a high school athletic coach for a significant part of my teaching career. I coached Varsity Cross Country from 1992-2009. Varsity Track & Field from 1993-2004. During that time, my teams won multiple league titles. I had a number of individuals that went on to be state champions and were subsequently recruited to compete in NCAA Division 1 Athletics.
