About Joel Cutting

I combine a broad range of development experience and expertise in post-conflict and transition countries with private sector experience in the UK spanning several industry sectors. My main expertise in is institutional and organisation reform, with a track record of achieving results in post-conflict and other institutionally challenging environments. In addition to advising senior government policy makers to Vice President level in Afghanistan and West Africa and senior decision makers in donor organisations (World Bank, GTZ, DFID), I am able to work at grass-roots level with remote communities, and engage effectively with local people and local institutions in Mongolia, Armenia and West Africa. In June 2010, I was made an ‘Alumni Hero’ of Birmingham University for my contribution together with Dr Paul Jackson to re-establishing local government in Sierra Leone Specialties: Institutional Reform in developing and post conflict countries, reform of public sector agencies in natural resource sectors (mining, water, fisheries, agriculture), Local Government Reform, Governance,
