About Joel H.

My path has taken me from a front-end web developer, to a geospatial specialist, and programmer/app developer. In 1998 I was trying to figure out how to best leverage JavaScript to do fancy stuff, such as dropdown menus, and now I support a wide-range of application development. This includes front-end and server-side applications; scripting and ETL; extensive Quickbase app development; support of GIS operations and data; and much more. My work has necessitated being a project manager and working closely with clients and end-users. I pay attention to every detail that makes the user experience more pleasant, functional, and efficient. Over time, I have developed a keen ability to understand the needs and processes of users and help them create adequate project scope. I often know what they need and want before they know themselves. Experience includes several JavaScript web-frameworks, Quickbase Pipelines and Apps, Node.js, many ArcGIS products, a wide-range of JavaScript modules and libraries, Python modules, and real-time data visualization and transfer. Mostly I code in JavaScript and Python, as that has been the demand, although I am capable of working with other languages and development environments.
