About Joel Hay

After leaving the US Navy, Joel Hay joined TISEC Inc, in Canada and co-founded Waves In Solids LLC in the United States. His experience at TISEC includes structural health monitoring (SHM) and mechanical integrity inspections for bridges, acoustic emission inspection of compressed gas tubes and cylinders, mechanical and structural integrity inspection of above ground storage tanks, pressure and chemical processing vessels; double-wall cryogenic and high temperature vessels, pulp and paper processing equipment; in-process acoustic emission monitoring. In over eight years of training and experience in the U.S. Navy and 24 years at TISEC Inc, Joel Hay has obtained valuable training and experience in mechanical and structural integrity, fabrication, nondestructive testing and overhaul projects. He has applied these on the job in diverse applications on submarines and surface ships, both conventionally and nuclear powered, above ground storage tanks, load-bearing structures, pressure vessels and process equipment. From North America and South America, the Middle East, Mediterranean Basin, Africa, Australia and Asia, and with a foreign language capability, he has led inspection and repair teams and is capable of carrying out independent inspections and leading teams in diverse domestic and foreign venues. His inspection work is backed by his training and experience in field application of a wide range of welding and fabrication procedures as well as monitoring their use in an inspection capacity. He is a certified rope access technician complimented with rescue, confined space entry and helicopter egress. Combining inherent personal skills with military, technical, leadership, management training and experience, Joel Hay is a valuable asset for managing and executing inspection work in the shop and in the field. Now holding the position of President of TISEC Inc.(Canada) he has lead inspection projects in over 20 countries world-wide.
