About Joel Mekler

For over 20 years, Joel Mekler has utilized his extensive federal benefits experience in government and the insurance industry to provide today’s seniors and their families with expert, unbiased Medicare guidance. As an established writer, Joel is the creator and weekly contributor of “Medicare Moments” for the New Castle News. His articles have been featured in the publications of prominent national organizations like the Kaiser Family Foundation, Medicare Rights Center, Senior Medicare Patrol, and the Society of Certified Senior Advisors, among others. He holds an active Accident and Health, Life and Fixed Annuities license in Pennsylvania and is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and Medicare counselor. Previously, as an account executive, Joel was responsible for the day-to-day servicing and managing of mid- to large-size employer group plans within a seven-state territory for the Government Employees Health Association, one of the leading federal health insurance carriers in the Northeast. In this role, he was named the company’s top sales producer for four straight years. As a seasoned insurance professional, Joel managed a retail insurance agency selling auto insurance for Safety Insurance. He also served as a commercial lines underwriter for Sentry Insurance. Joel’s previous work history includes over 15 years of human resources experience where he administered large-scale state and federal health-benefit programs. He is open to opportunities in both the Health Benefits and Human Resources fields.
