About Joel Ramirez

As the CTO of rrecess, I bring half a decade of experience in software engineering, design, communication, and passionate leadership, together to build a novel social game that simplifies making meaningful connections. My passion for technology began as an ember in the heart of my childhood. Naturally drawn to the internet and the information it encouraged me to access, I learned everything I could on my own-feeding the flame of my passion and leading me to begin freelancing in high school. As a minority entering the tech industry, my journey set ablaze a desire to support my community in engaging with technology and leveraging opportunities to better their lives. I have a YouTube channel dedicated to educating the community on alternative pathways into tech, and I volunteer as an organizer and mentor with Black Code Collective and Digital Undivided.
