About Joel Talcott

Joel is Professor of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at Aston University, where his core research interests are in interdisciplinary cognitive neuroscience, and particularly to investigations of the neurodevelopmental disorders that impact upon learning and achievement outcomes of approximately 5% of all children world-wide. A core aim of this research is to develop and validate methods for age-appropriate detection, tracking and prediction of children’s cognitive and educational outcomes. Joel has served served as Senior Science of Learning Fellow of IBRO/IBE-UNESCO. as Vice President of the British Dyslexia Association, and as Editor-in-Chief of the international research-practitioner journal Dyslexia (Wiley). Joel is committed to affecting positive social change through advancing research and policy relevant to the understanding of children’s learning and strives to disseminate relevant ideas both into working practice and into public understanding through his work with external organisations and other stakeholders.
