About Joel Xavier

I believe the purpose of higher education is to nurture students so that they develop a deep internal foundation of personal values and beliefs and become mature responsible citizens of this world, able to look beyond the mental clutter that pervades our world and value themselves and the world around them. I am a constructivist, and believe that our meaning and reality are what we create for ourselves, through our myriad conversations and interactions. I specialize in creating, nurturing, and developing positive student engagement systems in academic institutions at the tertiary level, especially designing and implementing educational ecosystems. I am passionate about partnering with students to create exciting and invigorating campus cultures. My experience spans large Universities, and top Graduate Management schools in India. I hold an MBA, and a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, widely recognized as India's top Management school with an acceptance rate lower than 1%. As a leader, administrator and research scholar, my interests lie in student culture, student engagement, experiential learning, and campus design in higher education. I am also interested in unconventional models of higher education for individuals and groups.
