About Joelle Pedersen

District curriculum leader, experienced secondary English teacher, teacher educator, and education researcher dedicated to building students' critical literacy skills in every discipline. As a pracademic, Joelle straddles the worlds of research, policy, and practice. She is committed to supporting teachers at all career stages in developing capacity for culturally and linguistically responsive literacy instruction. Her approach to instructional leadership centers teachers' professionalism and expertise through meaningful collaboration, individualized feedback, and inquiry into practice. In her research, she explores pre-service and in-service writing teacher preparation, critical writing pedagogy, and writing assessment.
