In my current position, I lead a number of different practices within the Aon Global Risk Consulting group that provide qualitative and quantitative risk analysis for clients across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Our risk analysis capabilities help organisations to: • Better understand their risk profile; • Identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies for businesses as a whole or specific business units, and for one-off projects; • Design an risk transfer strategies including insurance and plans that achieves an optimal level of cover instead of an “off-the-plan” product; • Discharge governance obligations stipulated by internal or external stakeholders; • Provide assurance that their insurance cover not only adequately transfers risk but also represents value for money. The special skills and expertise I bring to this process include: • The benefit of technical know-how gained over many years from working in teams and with people from a wide range of professional backgrounds (including Legal, Engineering, Accounting and Actuarial); • The ability to take a successful concept utilised in one sector or on a particular problem, and to apply it in a completely different context or arena; • Not trying to fit your problem into a ‘cookie-cutter’ solution, but instead, through understanding what the cookie-cutter does in principle, develop a more tailored solution. Within the Aon broad value-proposition, the strength of the Aon Global Risk Consulting business is that although my team does not negotiate, place or maintain any insurance policies, we work closely with brokers to design a policy that matches our clients’ risk profiles and achieves their risk transfer objectives. Importantly, if we recommend the design, placement or modification of an insurance solution, our knowledge of what the insurance market offers and is able to deliver, ensures the solution are practical and can be implemented.
