About Joerg Schulze

Hi, I am an Associate Landscape Architect with over 20 years’ professional experience working for clients in the private and public sector. I have a comprehensive track record in developing and managing landscape and visual impact assessments of large infrastructural, commercial, residential, tourism and civic developments throughout the island of Ireland and the UK. I gained extensive experience in all stages of the planning, design, tender and implementation process, contract management and as consultant for Part 8, 10 and EIA / EIAR, ES and DCO processes. As part of the LVIA EIA / EIAR /DCO process, I have developed and prepared constraints studies, site suitability assessments, feasibility studies and associated GIS mapping. This includes also advice on mitigation measures to minimise landscape and visual effects, the preparation of detailed mitigation planting schemes and general landscape design within proposed development sites according to national and international best practice guidelines. I also produced residential visual impact assessments of individual private properties, managed the production of photomontages and the preparation of ZTV/TVI mapping. I have also been involved in the supervision of landscape constructions works and the monitoring of landscape maintenance periods for mitigation planting schemes. I have been an expert witness at a number of Oral Hearings / Public Inquiries / Examinations and prepared affidavits for renewable energy developments. I am an experienced team leader and work closely with other disciplines. My work involves also stakeholder engagements, consultations with communities and planning authorities, including the organisation and participation in public workshops. In addition, I am leading the financial management and controlling of my teams project work as well as the general project management and resourcing. Between 2003 and 2005 I worked as a Graduate Landscape Architect for Wittig & Rietig, Landscape Architects / City Planners / Consultants (Weimar, Germany - Shanghai, China) and was involved in a range of national and international landscape and urban design projects in Europe and Asia. Prior to becoming a Landscape Architect, I completed an apprenticeship in Germany. I am a fully qualified Gardener for Landscape Construction and Horticulture and worked in the Botanical Garden of my hometown Chemnitz.
