About Joeri Beetz

I am a London and Galway based UK, Dutch and European patent attorney with more than 20 years of experience in supporting my clients’ IP needs with high quality drafting, prosecution and opposition work, as well as with sound commercial and strategic advice. I have helped many clients to use their patent portfolio for the benefit of their business or to strategically move around the competition’s IP. My technical background lies in the field of experimental sub-atomic physics (quarks, gluons, and tools to spot them) and my daily practice covers a broad range of physics, mechanical engineering and control software. In the European patent community, I may be best known for my love of EPO oppositions and my activities as a tutor for the C paper of the European Qualification Exam for aspiring patent attorneys. I have been a close follower of all developments around the Unified Patent Court, since more than a decade before its eventual start in 2023. With my 'Search UPC' website (https://upc.beetz.nl), I used to keep track of all new UPC cases and made this information easily accessible to a wider audience. While this website is currently in hibernation mode until the Court brings back their public API, that doesn't stop me from closely following all UPC activity.
