About Joetta Pittman

I have an undergraduate degree in Child and Family Development with an emphasis in Child Care. I worked in daycare centers in 2 states, teaching every age level from infants to after-schoolers. While my children were young, I decided to return for a master degree in education and chose to combine that with my love of Young Adult Literature. I started working part-time in the Children's Department of Wilson County Public Library while in school, then I joined the Wayne County Schools as Media Coordinator at Brogden Primary School. I finished my MLS, and 2 years later I moved to full time YA librarian at WCPL. I accepted a promotion upon retirement of a co-worker, to Adult Services and supervised the 6 Branch Librarians, working full-time at the Reference Desk. In 2012 I attended NCLA's Leadership Institute. I then presented an overview of my Job Search 101 computer class series at NCLA's Bi-Annual conference in 2013. In October of 2013, I accepted a promotional move to the Information Services Manager at Braswell Memorial Library. This allows me to combine my love of young adults, history, programming, and my supervision experience into a fabulous career. In 2014 I was privileged to serve as Mentor to a group of 2014 NCLA Leadership Institute attendees, and in 2016 I am serving on the Planning Committee for the Institute.
