About Joey Harbert

Efficiently creative with a performative streak to boot. As full-stack web developer with a background in theatre, I am able to come up with creative solutions to problems on the fly. I use my eye for photography to enhance my front-end designs and my passion for people to communicate thoroughly with developers and clients alike. My career began with a creative focus on music/theatre performance alongside photography. I supported that passion in various retail positions and was promoted into a management program, which taught me skills in project management and how to effectively provide training. I now draw from my experiences in sales and customer relations to help deliver a high-quality, accurate product to clients. While working in the theatre, I learned to quickly integrate with new groups of people to create art as a team. On stage and off, I have no trouble communicating ideas to large groups of people. Recently, I've realized that a piece was missing. I've had a love affair with technology and coding since I got my first HTML for Dummies book in middle school. I'm passionate about photography and music, but programming is also a part of who I am. I'm not one to neglect any creative outlet, so I'm trying to actively nourish that side of myself as well. In 2019, I attended Actualize Coding Bootcamp and learned full-stack web development through Ruby on Rails and Vue.js. Eventually, I had the privilege to work at Innerworkings as a full-stack web developer where I have honed my programming skills through mob-programming in Angular, AngularJS, and Java: Spring Boot. More recently, I contracted with Mthree as a Site Reliability Engineer supporting several large financial applications using tools like Splunk, SQL Developer, and Dynatrace. Currently, I'm fortunate enough to be teaching my love of code to others back at Actualize Coding Bootcamp.
