About Joey Lam

Joey Lam holds a Ph.D. in Marketing Strategy from Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, Canada. Her research interest is how organizations use language to create corporate cultures and interact with customers, employees, and stakeholders. Her work has been published in Industrial Marketing Management, the Journal of Health Psychology, the International Journal of Management Education, and the Journal of Wine Research. Joey was born, grew up, and was educated in Hong Kong. Upon graduating from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, she worked in financial communication and investor relations in Hong Kong for seven years, which offered her extensive exposure to stakeholder management and corporate governance. Her experiences in training C-suite leadership and the Board of Directors to meet investors, analysts, and journalists gave her the confidence to start a conversation with anyone, from high net-worth individuals to world-traveling backpackers, anytime. She likes exploring the world by meeting people from different countries. She has traveled in Europe, the Asia Pacific, and North America. Being part Japanese, she minored in Japanese at university and decided to learn more about her heritage in Japan by living in the country in 2014. She enjoyed experiencing Japan with new adventures she could not do in Hong Kong, such as skiing and surfing. She entered Recruitment by joining the first Recruitment to Recruitment company in Japan. It was a valuable opportunity for her to gain in-depth knowledge of the job markets in Asia by learning about different recruitment companies and their growth-driving sectors. Joey's passion for skiing led her to Vancouver from Japan in 2017. This vibrant, breathtaking, and culturally diversified city can offer skiing/ hiking in the mountain during the day and enjoying the sunset calling it a day at the beach, which no other place can. She hired positions in Finance & Accounting and Administration. Fortunately, she was awarded scholarships, allowing her to pursue an MBA and a Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University. She never stops exploring, and her journey of acquiring new knowledge and experiences continues. Joey speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Japanese, believing a smile is a global language.
