About Johan Ekman

Travel and experiences are both great passions in my life. I’ve worked within the traveling industry since my teen years and I bought my first bus in the 1980s. At present, I manage EkmanResor; a travel agency that arranges customized, unique travels by bus, boat, plane and train to classic locations as well as new destinations – near and further away. I founded EkmanBuss in 1987 with the ambition to offer a wide range of trips; from short daytours and weekend getaways to longer trips with destinations abroad. I thought a flexible form of arranging trips was missing on the market, and therefore I coined the word “flexibussitet” in 1993. EkmanBuss – Flexibussitet was sold to Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB in 2007 and at the same time I started as CEO for Strömma Buss AB. I worked with developing the business in Scandinavia, with a main focus on Hop On – Hop Off. I left Strömma in 2012 and bought back EkmanResor and EkmanAlpin – Flexibussitet, which today is called EkmanResor. I have been active in the bus industry for nearly 30 years and for about ten years I have been Chairman of the board of Stockholms Läns Bussbranschförening. I also test-drive buses for the magazine Trafikforum and was on the jury for Coach of the Year in 2013. Besides being a CEO, I work as a freelance journalist and photographer, focusing on the bus and tourist industry. I have written for the magazines Resforum and Trafikforum, among others.
