About Johan Erasmus

My previous experience includes power system modelling in MATLAB and DIgSILENT PowerFactory that was used for my Master's degree thesis,"Dynamic modelling of an industrial microgrid". This thesis focused on producing a representative transient system model for an industrial microgrid at one of EATON's production facilities. The model focused on dynamic response due to various system events that may occur during normal operation. The purpose was to develop a tool that can be used to accurately predict microgrid response (islanded or grid-connected) and be used to test new control strategies for the management of the microgrids dynamic behaviour. Furthermore, I have been involved in various contractor projects pertaining to power quality measurement and analysis throughout various industries in South Africa, PV design (PVsol & PVsyst) and various other electrical engineering jobs. These projects were project or time based contracts completed under the guidance of two consulting professors at the North West University.
