About Johan Lammerant

Johan Lammerant is Lead Expert Natural Capital and Biodiversity within Arcadis. His core expertise areas are Business and Biodiversity, Nature Positive, Natural Capital Assessments, and EIA. With his team, he has developed the NCV Model (Natural Capital Valuation) on behalf of EBRD. NCV is a natural capital risk assessment tool supporting nature positive investment decisions. He is leading the Methods workstream within the EU Business & Biodiversity Platform that focuses on biodiversity measurement approaches and metrics for businesses and financial institutions (see https://green-business.ec.europa.eu/business-and-biodiversity/our-activities/measuring-your-impacts-and-dependencies-biodiversity_en). He is a technical advisor within the EU funded ALIGN project (see https://capitalscoalition.org/project/align/). He is Arcadis’ representative in the WBCSD working groups on Natural Capital. He is co-author of the Natural Capital Protocol. He was an expert in EFRAG's Technical Expert Group preparing the biodiversity standard ESRS E4 of the CSR Directive. He has extensive experience in the field of EIA and SEA (participated in more than 60 studies, mainly as team leader) for both infrastructure projects (airports, harbours, highways, railways, recreational resorts, golf courses, water management, etc.) and industrial projects (mining, waste, renewable energy, …). He did a lot of policy research studies for the European Commission, mainly related to the EU Biodiversity Strategy (e.g. Green Infrastructure, ecosystem restoration, EU protected areas network). He is a contributing author to the SBTN (Science Based Targets for Nature) interim guidance for business. On behalf of United Nations Statistical Dept he has piloted the application of UNSEEA with businesses. He supports several industrial clients in developing the business case for biodiversity.
