Always I am looking for an opportunity to develop myself. The best way to do this I believe is going outside of your comfort zone. Addressing your lesser sides through your strengths is as such a very healthy and developmental process. I am very strong in finding solutions. If there is a problem, I need to solve it. The drive is what gets me there, the planning and prioritizing, being crucial in such a process, are personal area’s that I work on along the way. A win-win situation. Communication is another tool that I really enjoy. When you enjoy something, you inevitably get good at it. The confrontational aspect can be difficult for me, but this is then something on which I work and am getting better at. I have been in several positions where I had to lead people, be it individual, or as a group. To over generalize; being a leader, means solving problems through communication. This is where all my strengths and weaknesses come into play. To make a group of people as effective as possible, you must recognize their strengths and weaknesses and capitulate on them. You play on their strengths or work with the areas in which they have potential. This is always an extrapolation of my personal experiences. It means that, in my case, if I know what my personal strengths and weaknesses are, I can do the same with a group of people. So, putting the right people in the right place and giving everybody the right amount of responsibility is what makes a team most effective. Working with people and working towards a situation where my influence is needed less and less, to create a self-regulating machine is then the goal. Inspiring people to be better than they thought they could be is very fulfilling. People often can do more than they think they are capable of. Being a catalyst in this process is a great experience and something I want to do.
