About Johan van Rooyen

I am a highly motivated and dedicated computer scientist with a diverse background in music, mathematics, and business. Born in Johannesburg, I excelled in high school as a member of the school band and as a rotary youth exchange student. I pursued my passion for music and mathematics by earning a Bachelor of Music from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from UNISA, and a BScHon in Computer Science from Tuks. I am currently pursuing an MSc in Computer Science at Tuks. I have a proven track record of success in both education and industry. In 2014, I founded and ran the Super Duper Music School, where I helped students of all ages develop their musical talents. I then worked as a Business Development Manager at Action Coach, before transitioning to my current role as a Full Stack Software Developer. In this role, I have been focussed on web technologies, including web applications and hybrid mobile applications; as well as cloud computing and infrastructure to deploy real-world solutions. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, music, and trail running. I have visited 15 countries and strive to read 30 books per year. I have also played in several bands and have had the opportunity to perform live on radio. I am deeply passionate about computer science and am eager to explore the field in greater depth. My ultimate goal is to understand the deep, esoteric, and obscure details of how computers work.* Written by ChatGPT *
