About John A. Barrera

John Barrera has more than 30 years of experience in product safety & quality, product design & development, sourcing, operations, licensing, brand management, merchandising, retail buying & sales, and customer service. John joined BCP in August 2021 as Sr. Director of Product Quality where he will be a part of the Leadership Team and develop and manage the Product Quality program. Most recently, John held the position of Global Director of Product Integrity with Goliath Games where he developed strategies and implemented procedures and processes to ensure the creation of safe, compliant, and quality-driven products distributed around the world. Throughout John’s career, he has also held positions with Amazon, The Walt Disney Company, M&M’s/Mars, and Mattel Toys. John holds AAS and BS degrees from Purdue University, as well as a Master’s degree from Arizona State University. He completed the certificate program in Early Childhood Development at California State University, and certificate programs in Product Safety Management and Advanced Product Safety Management at Saint Louis University (SLU). Mr. Barrera has also been an instructor for the Product Safety Management certificate programs at SLU. John was an active board member of the Society of Product Safety Professionals (SPSP) from 2017-2022, and held the position of President from 2019-2022. SPSP is an organization focused on the education and advancement of professionals dedicated to the consumer product safety field.
