About John A. Taylor

Green Industry Innovator John Taylor has served the green industry for more than 25 years and lectures on irrigation, water management, conservation, and sustainable landscape business practices. His lectures have included locations like Texas A&M, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and events such as the Lawn & Landscape Technology Conference and ASLA Award Shows. He has also served as a featured panelist on the EPA’s webinar podcast series, “Bringing Water to Life.” His live, and remote irrigation and business classes have helped provide CEUs (licensing credits) for thousands of licensed irrigators and landscape architects. John has been published in industry magazines such as Lawn & Landscape, Landscape Management, Green Industry, and Turf. He is also a regular contributor to the TXIA’s quarterly publication, Texas Connect, and was featured on the cover of Lawn & Landscape magazine for National Smart Irrigation month highlighting his use of smart irrigation technology to reduce water waste. Mr. Taylor is one of only five irrigation designers in the U.S. to be awarded the prestigious EPA Water Sense Award for his water conservation efforts within the irrigation industry. John has served on the TXIA board of trustees for almost a decade, he currently serves his second term as president, and has chaired multiple committees; to include the committee on government relations, playing a key role in monitoring legislative activity and drafting responses to a variety of critical issues involving irrigation and/or the green industry across the state. As a business owner, Mr. Taylor led his companies; Taylor Irrigation Service and TIS Houston, a landscape design/build firm, to the top of the Houston market and among the highest rated companies on the most popular client review sites, winning numerous awards for customer service, value, and product and service quality. John sold both companies in 2018-19 and has since started a number of other outdoor-living ventures, to include Green Industry Solutions, and Plant Landscape Consultants. John is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a father of four living in northwest Houston, Texas.
