About John Abercrombie

I have been involved with photography for over thirty-five years, twenty of them as a professional. In 1998, I moved away from my photographic and graphic design career and started working as a geographic information systems specialist (GIS), specializing in MapInfo Professional software. Most of my experience in this field was in the telecommunications industry, mapping cellular phone network coverage and broadcast tower leasing. Although I would still accept a position as a GIS Specialist, I have decided to concentrate on restarting my Photography career. I have developed a website to sell my Fine Art Photography and showcase my work. I hope to use this website as an online portfolio in my search for full time or part time employment. My photography experience includes: • At Fetzer Vineyards I photographed their winery for display in their tasting room when they moved the tasting room from the winery in Redwood Valley, CA to Hopland, CA. I provided photography for in-house use such as recording events with new and potential customers. • At Peterbilt Motors Company I provided studio and location photography for annual sales meetings, sales brochures, magazine articles, press releases, advertisements and speech support. Planned and performed photo shoots in 36 states, Mexico and Canada. This included researching and identifying unusual and creative truck body configurations, contacting Peterbilt dealers, arranging for times and finding locations to photograph and handling all travel arrangements. • At Leo Meyer Associates I furnished all of the photographs for this publishing company.
