John has more than 26 years of post-conflict, stabilization, resiliency, international development, and humanitarian assistance leadership and experience. His expertise spans a wide variety of management, technical, operational, and strategic fields including complex humanitarian relief, post-conflict operations, risk reduction strategy design, reconstruction and stabilization operation management, food security, development management, rapid needs assessments, humanitarian contingency planning, logistics, and surge capacity planning. Mr. Acree has represented the U.S. Department of State (DOS) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in several senior level positions in Washington and abroad. Most recently, Mr. Acree served as Senior Advisor to the Near East Foundation providing senior leased-ship with strategic and planning counsel in order to achieve revenue growth, increased geographic presence, and new technical capacity. Provide access to USAID and State Department networks and establish NEF as a viable partner to implement stabilization, conflict prevention and resiliency programs. Prior to this assignment, Mr. Acree served as Vice President of International Programs at International Medical Corps; Director, USAID Office of Civilian and Military Cooperation, Chief of Party, USAID Office of Transition Initiatives/Pakistan, and USAID/Afghanistan Director of the $1.6 billion stabilization program portfolio in Kabul, Afghanistan, among other positions. He designed USAID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) disaster risk reduction strategies and country programming plans and wrote the Surge Capacity Plan for the USAID Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA). From 2002 until 2007, Mr. Acree worked with the DOS, USAID, U.S. Military, the United Nations, and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to help design and implement Operation Iraqi Freedom’s humanitarian response plan.
