About John Anchor

John Anchor is Professor Emeritus of International Strategy at the University of Huddersfield, UK. Prior to this, John was Professor of International Strategy and Associate Dean (International) in the Huddersfield Business School. John was responsible for the development and oversight of education and research partnerships for the Huddersfield Business School. He also worked with the International Office to recruit international students and oversee the academic and social experience of those students in Huddersfield. John has undertaken a large number of international research and education projects. John has received ten awards (medals) in recognition of his role in developing research and education partnerships in Central and Eastern Europe. These include a Gold Medal, awarded by the Rector of the Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, in November 2017, ”in appreciation of his extraordinary contributions to the development of the university, science, culture, education and academic freedom”. Since January 2023, John has been the Chair of the Rector's International Advisory Board at the University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. From December 2020 to December 2022, he was a member of the Rector's International Advisory Commission. John is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the School of Business at Woxsen University, India. In addition to his academic career, John has had extensive involvement in Public Service. John served as a Municipal Councillor for a number of years, including three years as Chair of a Housing Committee. He has also been a Governor of Secondary, Special and Primary Schools.
