I am an experienced fisheries biologist with a demonstrated history of working in the Columbia River implementing Endangered Species Act recovery of salmon and steelhead under projects funded by grants of varied sources. As the monitoring subdivision manager of several projects in a manner that they have long-term benefits the resource. The largest and longest lasting is the Okanogan Basin Monitoring and Evaluation Program (OBMEP) which integrates modeling with long-term data collection to evaluate anadromous fish and their habitats throughout the Okanogan subbasin. This information allows the construction of compelling narratives related to both fish and habitat and how these relationships change over time in dynamic streams and rivers. Internationally this position provided oversight for all monitoring and evaluation efforts within the Okanogan/Okanagan subbasin to ensure that redundancies were eliminated and cost efficiencies are maximized. Data and analysis are shared using interactive cloud-based web tools providing easily accessible information for local mangers, regional planners, large-scale policy analysts and the public. Data collected since 2004 is used in listing decisions and reporting related to summer steelhead recovery in the Okanogan River subbasin which is part of the upper Columbia ESU. Implementation of this and other projects involves diverse duties from contracting to personnel supervision, data analysis, experimental design, protocol development and field testing, and data collection in both “wadeable” and “non-wadeable” streams throughout the Okanogan River basin. Extensive coordination and outreach have required participation and involvement with the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Grant PUD, Chelan PUD, Douglas PUD, Northwest Power and Conservation Council (NPCC), Upper Columbia Fisheries Managers, Pacific Northwest Aquatic Monitoring Partnership (PNAMP), Columbia System-wide Monitoring and Evaluation Project (CSMEP), Upper Columbia Regional Technical Team (UCRTT), Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board (UCSRB) the Bilateral Okanagan Basin Technical Working Group (BOBTWG), and Osoyoos Lake Board of Control along with many other agencies and private landowners.
